Adra Kandil: When NFTs Combine Past, Present and Future

The Lebanese art scene witnessed the shift of a large number of artists toward non-fungible tokens (NFTs) over the past months. With the big echo caused by the NFTs over the past period, several Lebanese artists began to realize the importance of showcasing their artworks as NFTs. 

Among these artists was the renowned Lebanese visual artist Adra Kandil.

Who Is Adra Kandil? 

Kandil, a Lebanese visual artist, was born in 1993. She received her high school diploma from the American Community School in Beirut in 2011 and graduated from IED Barcelona with a bachelor’s degree in creative advertising and branding in 2017.

She also got a master’s degree in design from the University School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona in 2018. 

Her Artistic Career

Kandil was fond of art since her childhood and worked on developing her talent while studying. She has a distinguished style in her artworks as she was keen to get back to the past, therefore she took a slogan of “Dear Nostalgia”.

Her art combines the retro look, bright pop colors, and modern typography to create a visual reflection of the struggle and hopes of her generation. In short, through her art, Kandil creates visual messages of the past, present, and future.

Through her art, she attempts to express a number of issues including gender equality, women’s empowerment, and social and political transformation in the Middle East in general, Lebanon in particular. 

She has participated in many exhibitions around the world, in Beirut, California, Paris, Switzerland, New York, Amsterdam, and Barcelona, in addition to working with several non-government organizations and cooperating with brands like Gucci, Chanel and others. 

Her Shift to The NFT World 

Due to the great echo caused by the NFTs, Kandil began to seriously think about entering this world. And she started to present her artworks as NFTs, which achieved wide popularity later. 

Her Unique touch Kandil was keen to add her unique touch to her artworks, a matter which made her NFTs distinguished, unlike other tokens.
