Disney Eyes Hiring Lawyer to Work on NFTs, Metaverse, Blockchain
The Walt Disney Company, the American animation giant, posted a job on LinkedIn, looking for a well-experienced corporate attorney to work on transactions involving emerging technologies, including NFTs, and metaverse, blockchain.
Disney’s job ad pointed out that the hired person would help in “performing due diligence for NFT, blockchain, third-party marketplace and cloud provider projects in addition to negotiating and drafting complex agreements for those projects.”
He is supposed to provide regular legal advice to Disney legal and business teams on issues and matters related to NFT and cryptocurrency, including reviewing marketing and advertising disclosures and evaluating securities law issues, a matter which enhances the promotion and sale of NFTs.
According to the advert, which was published on Saturday, the employee is preferred to have remarkable corporate transactional experience, including substantial experience in performing due diligence, drafting and negotiating complex agreements, and coordinating with various stakeholders.
The attorney’s experience has to vary between five and eight years to manage and run complex corporate transactions.
Getting Into Metaverse
The job announcement shows Disney’s keenness to get into the digital collectibles and virtual worlds, a matter which was mentioned by Disney CEO Bob Chapek in his remarks about Disney’s metaverse future in line with the company’s upcoming celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2023.
Chapek, during the Official Disney Fan Club Expo (D23 Expo), said he would expand Disney+ to be an experiential lifestyle platform instead of being a movie service platform, describing it as “next-gen storytelling”.
“In order to reach the 90% of people that will never ever be able to get to a Disney park, we have before us an opportunity to turn what was a movie-service platform to an experiential platform,” Chapek told the Deadline website.
He noted that Disney would give the opportunity for people to experience digitally, something which is similar to a physical experience based on AI as they necessarily can’t be at the same place at that time.
According to him, Disney is still at the very embryonic beginnings of the new virtual world.
Earlier in February, Disney appointed an executive to lead the animation giant’s strategy to enter the metaverse world.
Mike White became an executive vice-president for next-generation storytelling and consumer experiences.
A metaverse is a network of three-dimensional virtual environments focusing on social interaction. It may be characterized as a digitally simulated world. It utilizes blockchain, augmented reality, and virtual reality (VR), combined with social media principles, to develop venues for extensive user communication that imitate the real world.
