Meta, the social media giant, announced on Thursday that Facebook and Instagram users, who are living in the US only, can connect their digital wallets and share their non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that they created or bought across their platforms.
In its announcement, Meta said its Facebook and Instagram users will be able to automatically tag the NFT creator and collector without any fees for posting or sharing their digital collectibles.
Under this announcement, Instagram and NFT users could connect their crypto wallets such as Rainbow, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, and Dapper Wallet.
The social media giant also said that users would be able to cross-post digital collectibles they have across both platforms.
To connect their wallets with their accounts, users, after being logged in, should click on settings, choose the digital collectible option on the menu, and select the connect option
The social media platforms will ask the users for additional information, like their wallet passwords. Finally, they will click “Sign” to confirm access to their crypto wallets. The whole process takes only two minutes.
Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, earlier, announced his intention to integrate NFTs on Facebook and Instagram in March 2022. The firm later experimneted with a few US-based clients before publically announcing that NFTs are coming to Facebook and Instagram in June 2022.
The announcement shows the company’s keenness to enhance its digital presence in the cryptocurrency field as well as launching new crypto-based projects. It is reported that Meta seeks to launch its own NFT marketplace along with bringing out custom animations for NFTs posts.
