STC Play Signs MoU with Animoca Brands on Developing Gaming Industry in MENA

STC Play, a gaming platform for STC Telecom of Saudi Arabia, signed a memorandum of understanding with the metaverse and gaming developer Animoca Brands to boost cooperation in releasing more video games in the MENA region through STC Play and other distribution channels.

In a statement, Animoca Brands said the partnership with STC represents a new milestone in Animoca Brands’ strategy to support and enhance the gaming and Web3 industries in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region overall.

In this regard, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Animoca Brands Yat Siu lauded the partnership with STC as a significant advancement in his company’s expansion strategy in the Middle East region, saying STC provides services to millions of business and retail users.

Meanwhile, Head of STC Play Bader Almarshoud noted: “Following our strategy and as an extension of our venture into the gaming industry, we are glad to announce our collaboration with Animoca Brands to expand the gaming sector in Saudi Arabia by publishing video games in the MENA region using different distribution channels. This collaboration bridges the gap between the global and local games developing studios and its audience.”

This is not the first agreement that Animoca Brands ink with a Saudi company. In March, Saudi leading games production company Manga Productions inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Animoca Brands to build a strategic partnership through which they can develop Web3 initiatives and enhance the blockchain industry in the region.

This partnership showcases Mango’s content and characters in the Web3 ecosystem and develops Web3 pilot projects across Animoca’s extensive ecosystem to utilize Manga Productions’ high-quality content portfolio.

Animoca Brands will offer educational and vocational opportunities to those who are interested in its relevant fields, therefore, Animoca Brands is in talks with educational institutions and universities in the region to provide introductory blockchain courses.
