Turkish Platform Launches Elections Experience in Metaverse
Turkish Metaverse
Turkey is preparing itself for the presidential and parliamentary elections, which will kick off on May 14, as millions of voters are expected to take part in the elections.
Therefore, an innovative way has been introduced to enable young first-time voters to get a better knowledge of how the electoral process is going. The Oy Birligi Platformu will bring the Turkish elections to the metaverse to raise awareness about democratic participation, according to Anadolu Agency.
Using their virtual reality goggles and joysticks, the eligible voters will find their virtual ballot cards and envelope from a front table, then select their preferred party, then deposit the virtual ballot cards in the ballot box.

In this regard, Oy Birligi Plaformu Spokesperson Ömer Şahan said the platform’s move aims to encourage young voters to actively and effectively participate in the elections, a matter which is essential to boosting the democratic situation in the country.
“Our voting experience on the Metaverse offers young voters the opportunity to experience the democratic process in an interactive way,” Şahan added.
Earlier in January, Turkey announced the success of the pilot phase of its digital Lira project, according to the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT).
CBRT said in a press release that the first payment transactions on the network of its newly-launched central bank digital currency (CBDC), digital lira, were successfully conducted. The Turkish central bank confirmed that it would continue its limited, closed-circuit pilot tests with tech stakeholders in the first quarter of this year.
