It sounds that the UAE would shift to the next phase of the development of the metaverse through its collaboration with Singapore’s Metapolis, the first Metaverse as a Service Platform (MaaS), to bring various businesses and services to the virtual world.

MaaS is an enterprise solution that allows organizations to develop and boost their footprint in a 3D virtual world to support cooperation, cryptocurrency, business processes, investments, and other related use.

Metapolis’s MaaS plans to launch a comprehensive service that brings all the economic sectors in the UAE and other Gulf Cooperation Council countries to the metaverse to increase their revenues and attract more clients to the virtual world, Arabian Business Magazine reported.

In this regard, Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer at Metapolis
Sandra Helou said the UAE and Gulf countries are increasingly accommodating the Web 3.0 community, therefore, it is natural for the Singaporean startup to announce the establishment of an international headquarters in Dubai.

“The networking opportunities [in the region] with government entities, other startups, and even large-scale multinational technology companies are huge. Our market research very much agrees with the general consensus that the UAE is the main hub for blockchain and web3 for the foreseeable future,” Helou told the magazine.

She noted that her startup has already inked agreements with prominent companies in the region on making them metaverse-ready, pointing out Metapolis plans to launch a set of new products for the UAE-GCC region.

According to her, Metapolis’ role is to facilitate the inclusion of business models and various sectors in the digital world.

Metapolis, which is operating in the US, Europe, and Asia, announced that it would enhance its presence in the GCC region, however, there is no fixed time frame for this plan yet, she added.

Over the past few years, the UAE, especially Dubai, has positioned itself as one of the world’s prominent hubs for metaverse and blockchain technologies.

The Emirati government, in July, launched the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, which aims to contribute $4 billion to the emirate’s economy. The strategy targets increasing the number of blockchain and metaverse companies fivefold within five years as well as offering 40,000 virtual jobs.
