UAE Healthcare Foundation Releases NFT Collection for Treating Patients
Al Jalila Foundation, a UAE-based non-profit healthcare organization, announced the release of its first NFT collection to collect funds required to support and develop medical research.
Named ‘A Fingerprint on Humanity,’ the NFT collection is Emirati artist Maisoon Al Saleh and aims to raise awareness among people and generate funds for patients, who have life-threatening diseases in the UAE, WAM News Agency reported.
The NFT collection includes five digital collectibles; each one of them features a letter that stands for a specific issue, including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, mental health, and obesity. The revenues of these NFT sales will be directed to the foundation to support its efforts.
In this regard, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation Amer Al Zarooni said the first-ever NFT collection targets encouraging donors to leave positive fingerprints on the patients, pointing out that the initiative comes as a part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to support innovation within its fundraising channels and encourage donors around the world to support its healthcare programs.
“In accordance with the Dubai Metaverse Strategy to become a worldwide hub for the metaverse community, we are proud to be the first healthcare charity in the UAE to accept donations in cryptocurrencies, bridging the gap between physical and digital currency,” Zarooni noted.
Meanwhile, Saleh urged artists to use their creative talents to support a charitable cause, adding her cooperation with Al Jalila Foundation dates back to 2014 when she curated an art exhibition that led to the creation of this series of NFTs.
It is worth mentioning that the NFTs were revealed for the first time at Arts DAO Fest, a pioneering cultural festival, which showcases the achievements of the Web3 community in the Middle East. The NFT collection is currently up for sale on OpenSea in Ethereum and the ftNFT Marketplace in the UAE Dirham.
