Walmart Teams up with People of Crypto To Launch Metaverse Experience

Walmart is enhancing its cultural significance by partnering with Web3 creative studio People of Crypto Lab for their 50th-anniversary celebration of Hip-Hop.

The result of this partnership is Cultureverse, a gamified experience in the Spatial metaverse that celebrates Hip-Hop’s pioneers and explores its evolution and cultural impact in art, music, and fashion.

Moreover, Cultureverse aims to provide Black creators with greater access to technology. Walmart’s Black & Unlimited platform will support Black creators, makers, and entrepreneurs with custom programming and collaborations.

In this regard, Director of Brand Experiences and Strategic Partnerships at Walmart Justin Breton said, “We are always seeking out new and innovative ways to connect with our customers in spaces and places where they are spending their time.”

Cultureverse is providing an exceptional chance to introduce Walmart’s Black & Unlimited platform into the virtual world, aiming to inspire a new wave of Black creators, entrepreneurs, and culture builders and make a real-world impact, Breton added.

Walmart has made a move into the metaverse by filing trademarks for virtual goods, tokens, and currency sales at the end of 2021. In fact, the company already entered the metaverse through experiences on Roblox last year. Its Store No.8 incubator arm also teamed up with Outlier Ventures in June to launch an accelerator program for Web3-related startups.

People of Crypto’s Web3-first creative studio was launched in 2021 with a goal to increase the visibility of underrepresented communities. Their studio combines design, technology, and brand-building to create culturally relevant digital experiences that bridge fashion, gaming, and entertainment. Web3 plays a crucial role in connecting people and shaping culture. Berry and Akbar Hamid founded the People of Crypto (POC) Lab. Key partners and investors include The Sandbox, Animoca Brands, Gaingels, ConcreteRose, and Tess Ventures.
