Dubai-based logistics provider DP World takes more steps toward the application of the metaverse by planning to use its related applications in its staff safety training modules within two months.



As Dubai DP is working on building its complete digital twin in the metaverse, which is called &#8220;DPMETAWORLD&#8221;, it has created a fully-functional 2D version, <a href="https://gulfnews.com/business/markets/dubais-dp-world-to-get-cracking-with-staff-training-on-metaverse-1.92349446" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">according to Gulf News</a>.



The Dubai-based company&#8217;s moves aim to bring virtual solutions to real-world supply chain challenges, reduce carbon emissions, and replace physical training with virtual training.



In this regard, Chief Technology Officer of DP World Pradeep Desai said in the coming two months, the first use-case safety training module for the company&#8217;s staff in the metaverse will be available. Desai pointed out that his firm invested only a few million dollars to set up the company&#8217;s infrastructure in the metaverse.



He asserted the importance of the introduction of metaverse applications in activities of DP World, referring to the practice of heavy-duty automation simulation, such as remote crane operations. He also pointed to the necessity of making use of innovations developed by the students, who took part in the ‘Big Tech Project’ competition.



‘Big Tech Project’ is a competition launched by DP World that brought UAE and Indian students to solve challenges in the logistics space using Metaverse and IoT applications.



It is worth mentioning that the company plans to hire more employees to 700 employees from 500, particularly in the IT division with intentions to expand its operations in the technology sphere.



Over the past few years, the UAE has positioned itself as one of the world’s prominent hubs for metaverse and blockchain technologies. It works on enabling digital assets companies to launch their operations in the country.



A metaverse is a network of three-dimensional virtual environments focusing on social interaction. It may be characterized as a digitally simulated world. It utilizes blockchain, augmented reality, and virtual reality (VR), combined with social media principles, to develop venues for extensive user communication that imitate the real world.
