The Sandbox, a decentralized virtual world subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has partnered with Banijay Brands to create metaverse spinoffs of two popular TV series: &#8216;Peaky Blinders&#8217; and &#8216;Black Mirror.&#8217;



The Sandbox will offer a full range of NFTs and avatars for Black Mirror&#8217;s integration, while Peaky Blinders&#8217; features will include fetch quests, secret routes, exploration, and community fan gatherings.



According to Sebastien Borget, The Sandbox&#8217;s COO and Co-Founder, &#8220;The Peaky Blinders&#8217; entrance into The Sandbox offers fans and users the chance to become characters in the world they love. Becoming a member of the Peaky Blinders in this way is something fans have never been able to experience before.&#8221;



The Sandbox is introducing two new experiences for fans to immerse themselves in the worlds of Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror. The Peaky Blinders experience will offer a fresh perspective on the gritty drama, allowing users to explore loyalty, ambition, courage, and survival themes over multiple seasons.



The Black Mirror experiences, on the other hand, will allow fans to step into the shoes of different characters within the dystopian universe inspired by the iconic TV series. Each experience will focus on a main theme or character from a Black Mirror episode, enabling users to unlock exciting new areas, make new connections, and explore the world of Black Mirror on a deeper level.



&#8220;Black Mirror has become a cult classic in the pop culture landscape with its creative storylines and jaw-dropping endings,&#8221; Borget said.



Banijay Brands is the commercial and branding arm of Banijay, a renowned media and entertainment company. It manages a variety of global ancillary rights for renowned brands like Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror, which Banijay Rights distribute.



The Sandbox describes its user experience as a combination of virtual real estate and amusement park. The company aims to create a metaverse where digital spaces are continuously shared, and heroes from various worlds come together to make magic. The Sandbox has partnered with over 400 organizations, including Adidas, Atari, Care Bears, The Smurfs, The Walking Dead, and Warner Music Group.

Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror To Be on The Sandbox

The Sandbox, a renowned Metaverse platform, has recently revealed that a whopping 332 million tokens (SAND) have been unlocked. This accounts for approximately 16% of the current circulating supply of this digital asset.



At the time of the unlock, the total value of these tokens equated to an impressive $133 million, Cointelegraph reported.



As per the vesting schedule tracker Token Unlocks, the total 332.3 million unlocked token includes 71 million tokens for the team, 37.5 million for the advisers, 96.8 million for the company reserve, 24 million for the strategic sale buyers, and nearly 103 million tokens for the seed sale participants. These token holders are now entitled to trade their tokens freely on the open market.



The SAND token was valued at approximately $0.45 in the mid of July. However, since then, its price has declined to $0.39 as of the time of writing.



The upcoming release of SAND tokens is slated for February 14, 2024. At that point, approximately 205 million tokens will have been thawed out and designated to the team, company reserve, and advisors.



In July, The Sandbox partnered with the British Museum to launch new immersive experiences in the metaverse through which users can explore the museum’s unique collections in the virtual space to let them learn about the history from their homes.



Earlier this month, The Sandbox introduced the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, into the metaverse by launching a total of 3000 avatars, featuring outfits and hairstyles from different stages of Presley’s career.

The Ethereum-based metaverse game, The Sandbox, announced that it would introduce the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, into the metaverse.



The Sandbox confirmed the release date of a series of officially licensed Elvis Presley NFT avatars, which will be on August 8 to celebrate Presley&#8217;s long-lasting legacy.



A total of 3000 avatars will be available, featuring outfits and hairstyles from different stages of Presley&#8217;s career. Each avatar will also have its own set of unique emotes, inspired by the singer&#8217;s famous dance moves that capture the essence of his electrifying stage presence.



These NFT-based avatars will be minted on Polygon and fully playable in all future The Sandbox multiplayer experiences, allowing fans to step into the metaverse as the iconic performer. Furthermore, the avatars will unlock upcoming features and content.



On August 8, a 24-hour presale will be available exclusively for a select group of lucky holders. This includes those who own The Sandbox land, those who have allowlist spots, and those who hold certain collections. The public sale will begin on August 9, followed by the revelation of all avatars on August 11. There are four different rarity levels, with one level valued at 100 SAND (approximately $41 at the time of writing).



Moreover, owning an Elvis NFT comes with added benefits. Holders will have governance and voting rights for the Elvis Legacy Council DAO, allowing fans to play an important role in shaping the future of Elvis Presley&#8217;s digital expansion.

The British Museum announced it collaborated with the Ethereum-based metaverse game, The Sandbox, to introduce it in the metaverse with the launch of NFTs.



In a statement, The Sandbox noted that through its partnership with the British Museum, it is set to launch new immersive experiences through which users can explore the museum&#8217;s unique collections in the virtual space to let them learn about the history from their homes.



In this regard, COO and Co-Founder of <a href="https://upyo.com/en/news/tags/sandbox" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Sandbox</a> Sebastien Borget said: &#8220;We are very excited to collaborate with the British Museum to share its incredible collections with new audiences in the metaverse. It is worth noting that this is the first time the British Museum forays into the Web43 space, but it is not the first time a major museum enters the metaverse. In February, the French contemporary art museum, the Centre Pompidou, launched its permanent exhibition targeting the intersection between art and the blockchain represented by NFTs. The museum featured NFTs of 16 digital artists around the world, including popular collectibles, such as CryptoPunk #110 and Autoglyph #25, both donated to the Centre Pompidou.



This month, Thyssen National Museum in Spain teamed up with the Olyverse platform to mint its own NFTs to be a unique collection featuring masterpieces of Van Gogh.



Thyssen and Olyverse will turn Van Gogh’s artworks into digital assets to be displayed in the metaverse. Each NFT will represent a stunning original artwork for Van Gogh.

British Museum Enters Metaverse Through The Sandbox

The Saudi Arabia Digital Government Authority (DGA) has inked a memorandum of understanding with metaverse giant The Sandbox to boost cooperation in the virtual space.&nbsp;



The deal, which was signed during the LEAP 23 Conference, which started in Riyadh on Monday, set to close doors on Thursday, was announced by COO and co-founder of The Sandbox Sebastien Borget on Twitter.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.cryptotimes.io/sandbox-partners-with-saudi-arabia-dga-for-metaverse-initiatives/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">According to Crypto Times</a>, he pointed out that he could not provide any additional information about his company&#8217;s agreement with the Saudi government now, adding more details will be revealed within the coming weeks.&nbsp;



Following the deal, the native token of The Sandbox, SAND, increased to $0.91 shortly after the announcement, a 27% hike compared to yesterday’s figures.



The LEAP 2023 conference is expected to attract more than 250,000 visitors from around the world this year.



The event also witnessed Meta&#8217;s announcement of its intent to set up the first metaverse academy in the MENA region in Saudi Arabia, a matter which shows competition between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi in cope up with the latest technology events like metaverse and Web 3.0.&nbsp;&nbsp;



The metaverse is expected to contribute $15 billion to the economies of the Gulf countries by 2030 given that their governments are tapping into the virtual space, according to a study by Strategy&amp;.



Saudi Arabia topped the GCC countries in terms of metaverse contributions, as it is predicted to account for $7.6 billion by 2030 (more than half of the figure. While the UAE came second with an expected share of $3.3 billion. The predicted figures reflect the two countries’ tremendous efforts to deploy the usage of the metaverse in their respective national program, the report noted.

Gucci announced its first event in the metaverse on The Sandbox, the digital real estate platform, which kicked off on October 27 till November 9.&nbsp;



Under the name of Gucci Vault Land, Gucci became the first luxury fashion brand to have its own space on The Sandbox, cementing its footprints in the metaverse.&nbsp;



The Gucci Vault Land is free for all users, where they can have fun, play, and earn blockchain-based tokens or rewards after completing specific activities. Users will receive one Gucci Vault Box for completing a task and receive five Gucci Vault Boxes as a bonus for finishing all the tasks.&nbsp;



The users will enter a green space called &#8220;Garden of Curiosities&#8221; which will be a home for Gucci NFTs. The fashion brand&#8217;s vintage pieces are being displayed, but they are not for sale. It has an educational game space about the brand&#8217;s products and heritage.&nbsp;



Gucci also designed non-playable characters (NPCs) in its metaverse who are ready to help players during completing their activities.



In February, Gucci purchased digital real estate on The Sandbox.



The fashion brand aims to showcase its legacy using Web 3.0 technology for users by introducing the Vault Land&#8217;s features in addition to attracting non-native users who are new to the metaverse experiences to simply access them.&nbsp;



It is not the first time Gucci to join the metaverse. In May 2021, it launched the Gucci Garden in Roblox, the same month during which the Italian brand turned the Aria fashion collection into an NFT video sold for $25,000 at Christie’s auction house, making it the first luxury brand to launch an NFT.&nbsp;



In February 2022, it launched 1,000 NFTs in collaboration with the toy brand Superplastic.&nbsp;



Commenting on metaverse and NFTs, CEO Marco Bizzarri&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.voguebusiness.com/technology/gucci-ceo-bizzarri-talks-metaverse-strategy-and-why-its-already-a-very-real-place-for-us" rel="noreferrer noopener">told Vogue Business</a>&nbsp;in March that &#8220;Gucci is not afraid to be a first mover in many areas and will continue to adopt this mindset and challenge the status quo.” Gucci’s strategy was not — and still isn’t — about playing it safe.&#8221;
