Futureverse, a startup that consists of 11 different startups working in various fields, secured $54 million in a Series A round led by 10T Holdings, a private company investing in the digital assets ecosystem, and other contributions, including Ripple Labs.&nbsp;



The 11 startups of Futureverse are operating in the sectors of blockchain, gaming, <a href="https://upyo.com/en/news/metaverse" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">metaverse</a>, and artificial intelligence, according to Bloomberg.&nbsp;



Futureverse was formed by the merger of eight companies in late 2022 and additional three firms joined them. It aims to develop the infrastructure of the metaverse users by combining the technologies of blockchain and AI.&nbsp;



Ripple investments into Futureverse will include utilizing Ripple’s utility token $XRP for <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.nftgators.com/nft-gas-fees/" target="_blank">gas</a> payments in addition to supporting XLS-20 standard NFTs.



One of the most notable projects by Futureverse is FLUF World, an NFT collection of cartoon rabbits, and AI League, a mobile soccer game licensed by the sport&#8217;s world governing body <a href="https://upyo.com/en/news/tags/fifa-metaverse">FIFA</a>, which had been downloaded for more than 50,000 in the first three months. 



According to its co-founder Aaron Mcdonald, Futureverse has emerged stronger and more competitive after conducting a restructuring process that involved laying off about 20% of its staff. The startup now has more than 250 employees.&nbsp;



McDonald asserted that blockchain is an integral part of their business, accounting for about 10% of their tech stack. He also believed that the metaverse and AI will go hand in hand, suggesting that the current hype might be underplaying the potential impact.



In this regard, Ripple&#8217;s President Monica Long said: &#8220;We are excited to continue to support the Futureverse vision and celebrate the Root Network’s integration with the XRP Ledger. While we’re at the earliest stages of what a project like this — and really the larger concept of the metaverse — can achieve, we at Ripple are thrilled to contribute to the foundational infrastructure layer and provide real utility to the end users of the open metaverse.&#8221;&nbsp;

Ripple Labs, 10T Holdings Invest $54 Million in Futureverse

After claiming the title of the World Cup 2022, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) secured a footprint in the virtual space after signing a licensing agreement with Upland to join the metaverse.



<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/argentina-football-league-scores-metaverse-partnership-after-world-cup-triumph" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">According to Coin Telegraph</a>, the agreement will take AFA&#8217;s Liga Profesional de Fútbol (LPF) to Upland&#8217;s metaverse platform to enhance interaction between football fans and the association&#8217;s teams and players.



The new experience also includes turning LPF teams, players, clubs, highlights of games, and historical moments into digital collectibles, in addition to the exclusive ownership of highlight videos of LPF matches to be turned into NFTs, a new source of income for AFA.



Under the deal, Upland will help the owners of these NFTs to set up their businesses by reselling their digital collectibles at user-owned and operated shops located on virtual properties. This will make the Upland metaverse a digital environment for creating digital assets and digital land ownership as a virtual economy.



In a press release, the Silicon Valley-based firm said: &#8220;Upland is pleased to bring The Argentine Football Association (AFA) to the Metaverse. We’re excited to expand the realm of Football Legits so that fans, collectors and players from across the globe will soon have gamified football digital collectibles that include your favorite teams, clubs, players, tickets, and in-game video footage.&#8221;



Upland&#8217;s agreement with the Argentinian association follows its deals with the FC Porto football team of Portugal and FIFA. The latter agreement with FIFA allowed football fans around the world to collect, own, and trade NFTs of legendary video highlights from the World Cup games, a deal that makes the fans grasp the functions of metaverse and Web 3.0.



All 32 World Cup teams had digital country crests, shirts, boots, posters, logos, and team mascots featured in Upland. Through Upland metaverse, fans bought virtual buildings decorated with flags of their favorite teams.



It is obvious that the world of sports engaged more in the crypto scene recently. Teams like McLaren and Red Bull Racing explored their opportunities in the Web 3.0 world and NFTs. The Don Cristiano Ronaldo partnered with Binance to release a galaxy of NFT collections in a multiyear deal.

Argentina’s AFA Forays in Metaverse with Upland

FIFA is set to launch a new metaverse-focused football gaming experience called AI League: FIFA World Cup Qatar ahead of the real-life World Cup Qatar 2022.&nbsp;



Developed in partnership with AI company Web3, Altered State Machine, the game will be playable during the championship in Qatar, expected to be launched on November 20, the same day the FIFA World Cup begins.



There will be AI-powered characters in AI League, which will give the opportunity for FIFA fans around the world to build their teams, compete with friends, win rewards, and predict matches.&nbsp;



Players who will achieve high scores on AI League’s leaderboard will win digital and physical prizes such as Vivo phones, a gaming setup, and Adidas gift cards.



While, players, who will take part in the prediction game, will unlock four unique collectibles, which will be their virtual players in the AI League. The players can also unlock exclusive FIFA-branded accessories and clothing for virtual players.&nbsp;



FIFA&#8217;s launch of the AI-based game represents a step for the world&#8217;s football governing body to expand its activities in the Web 3.0 world.&nbsp;



In this regard, Co-founder of Altered State Machine Aaron McDonald said in a press release: &#8220;The launch of our FIFA World Cup&nbsp;AI League&nbsp;is an exciting step towards our mission to lead casual gamers into the world of AI gaming in the Metaverse, and we are honored to be building the first Web3 game with FIFA.&#8221;&nbsp;



McDonald expressed his interest in bringing the world’s most popular sport into the metaverse.
