Thyssen National Museum in Spain teamed up with the Olyverse platform to mint its own <a href="https://upyo.com/en/news/nft" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NFTs</a> to be a unique collection featuring masterpieces of Van Gogh.



Thyssen and Olyverse will turn Van Gogh&#8217;s artworks into digital assets to be displayed in the metaverse. Each NFT will represent a stunning original artwork for Van Gogh. The collection is considered limited as only 100 NFTs will be available for purchase on Telefónica’s <a href="https://upyo.com/en/news/tags/nft-marketplace">NFT marketplace news</a>.



This will make Thyssen the first national museum in Spain to do a such mint, especially for a well-known artist like Van Gogh.



The owners of Van Gogh NFTs will have the chance to showcase their digital artworks on blockchain-powered screens through collaboration with tech giant LG.



In this regard, CEO of Olyverse Carlos Grenoir said: &#8220;By democratizing access to art through NFTs, we hope to enable individuals to experience Van Gogh&#8217;s works in a new way. Our metaverse serves as a platform to exhibit and explore these digital masterpieces, offering an immersive and enriching experience that transcends traditional museum boundaries.&#8221;



The Olyverse Platform is a decentralized stars club, which aims to bridge the gap between celebrities and their fans in an innovative way using Web3-based technologies, such as NFTs. Through these NFTs, the fans can interact with stars through different activities and take part in experiences in the metaverse.



The platform also hosts other celebrities like Turkish actor Kerem Bürsin, former FC Barcelona defender Carles Puyol, and Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky.



In March, the Metaverse Arts Museum, the first NFT Arts Museum in the world, announced its official launch on The Sandbox to showcase immersive NFTs and gather creators, artists, collectors, and the blockchain community with the goal to offer support to innovative projects and NFT artists from the MENA region.

The LEAP 2023 conference, held in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, announced the launch of the Alliance for Metaverse and Web3 Empowerment (AM3E), according to ITP website.



The initiative, set to be operated through 2023, is meant to set up technical, economic, and ethical standards for digital builders to make sure of fairness and safety in the digital space. AM3E gathers global companies and innovators along with Web3 designers to unleash the metaverse&#8217;s potential.



It is composed of pioneering individuals, corporations, metaverse experts, and organizations, who tackled, during a roundtable, ways to drive the metaverse growth. They shared a group of principles that could serve users, creators, digital builders, and companies.



AM3E&#8217;s meeting was chaired by Forbes Ignite’s CEO and founder Nicole Cacal and Chief Strategy Officer William Thompson, in the presence of President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology Munir M. Eldesouki, Founder of the Global Meta Blockchain Jane Thomason, COO and founder of The Sandbox Sebastien Borgetm, CTO at Wipro Subha Tatavarti, CEO of the TMRW Foundation Cevat Yerli, Chief Transformation Officer of Magic Leap Daniel Diez, SVP and Head of Enterprise Technology Business at Tech Mahindra Harshul Asnani, Co-founder and CEO at Proof of Learn Sheila Lirio Marcelo and CEO of Animoca Brands Robby Yung.



In this regard, Regional EVP of MEA at Informa Markets Michael Champion said: &#8220;This landmark alliance underlines LEAP’s commitment to unveil and accelerate breakthrough products and ideas, and forge partnerships that will drive new worldwide collaborations leveraging technology’s limitless potential.



It is worth mentioning that LEAP23 announced a series of total investments worth $580 million to promote Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation in various fields.

LEAP Conference Launches Metaverse Alliance

Metaverse-focused companies started to add the sense of smell to their virtual reality, a breakthrough that was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas.



<a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/touch-smell-become-the-next-big-thing-for-the-metaverse-at-ces-2023" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">According to Coin Telegraph</a>, OVR Technology presented at CES a headset with a container for eight aromas that can be combined to create different scents. The VR headset is expected to be released later this year. An earlier version, which was business-orientated, was used primarily to market beauty products and fragrances. Integrated into VR goggles, users can smell different environments from a bed of roses to marshmallow roasting.



In this regard, CEO of OVR Technology Aaron Wisniewski said that augmented reality and virtual reality would drive sectors like commerce, entertainment, education, social connection, and well-being, adding: &#8220;The quality of these experiences will be measured by how immersive and emotionally engaging they are. Scent imbues them with unmatched power.&#8221;



Moreover, Aurora Townsend, an executive at FireFlare Games, said his firm is working on developing a VR dating app, which would be supported by captivating sensations like touch. Townsend noted: &#8220;Being able to feel the ground when you’re walking with your partner, or holding their hands while you’re doing that… subtle ways we engage people will change once haptic technology is fully immersive in VR.



However, Ozan Ozaskinli, a tech expert, who tested haptic products at CES, pointed out that they are still far from reality but users can feel something if they are integrated into online meetings.



In light of the highest adoption levels of the metaverse in different industries, McKinsey expected that the metaverse would create $5 trillion in value by 2030, saying that more than 50% of life events will be held in the virtual world. In its report, McKinsey stressed that the metaverse could not be ignored due to its increasing impact on commercial and people&#8217;s lives.

Firms Seek to Bring Touch, Smell to Metaverse at CES

A new study by McKinsey &amp; Company, a consulting company, revealed that women are spending more time in the metaverse than men.



McKinsey&#8217;s study showed five early indicators impacting women in the virtual world, raising a gender inequality issue, particularly in the leadership creating and setting <a href="https://upyo.com/en/news/tags/metaverse-events">metaverse events</a> and standards.



The study pointed out that women are still representing a minority in the metaverse, just like the tech sector as a whole. It described the men&#8217;s control of the entrepreneurial capital and the CEO roles as disproportionate.



According to the respondents, the study&#8217;s results found that 41% of women used or participated in the metaverse for more than one year, compared to 34% of men. About 35% of the examined women said they spend more than three hours per week in the digital space, compared with 29% of men, although McKinsey asked about 1,020 men and 896 women.



Moreover, women are spending more time on the metaverse in its hybrid use. The hybrid use of the metaverse includes participating in activities such as shopping, fitness, live events, gaming, and education via AR/VR technologies. Female users excelled over their male counterparts in all the aforementioned activities.



However, men users surpassed women in taking part in purely digital experiences such as trading NFTs, attending social events, and gaming.



The study found after asking about 450 female executives that 60% of the women have implemented at least two-metaverse related initiatives in their businesses. Compared with their men counterparts in implementing metaverse-related initiatives, women executives surpassed with a percentage of 20%. These initiatives are related to product design, marketing, and employee learning and development.



Despite these figures, which come in favor of women in the metaverse world, men dominate metaverse firms that received a higher share of funding over the past five years. Men-led companies received funding worth $107 billion compared to only $5 billion for women-led companies.



Also, the leadership roles at metaverse companies are manipulated by men with a percentage of 90% while women lead metaverse companies with a percentage ranging between 8% to 10%, showing an existing gender gap in the leadership roles.

Women Found More Powerful than Men in Metaverse But with Less Power

MTN Group, the African telecommunications operator, announced that it would hold Africa&#8217;s first metaverse concert in Ubuntuland on November 30. MTN Group was the first African company that purchased land in Africarare&#8217;s Ubuntuland in February.



The telecom operator&#8217;s concert, which will be held in partnership with The Mic: Africa, aims to raise awareness about the adoption of this virtual world.



Known as altMTN, the MTN Group’s presence in the African metaverse gives the opportunity to have a lead in digital platforms and promote African innovation, and will, over time feature live events, shopping, gaming, and learning, MTN’s Group Executive for Marketing Bernice Samuels said.



Regarding the concert, Samuels noted that his company would hold a competition for the consumers to allow them to win exclusive tickets, expressing his belief that music would attract more consumers to enjoy this immersive experience in the virtual world, a matter which will help in improving altMTN.



Earlier this year, MTN Group, the largest mobile network operator in Africa, announced its entry into the metaverse by purchasing 144 plots of virtual land in Ubuntuland with an overall area of 12x12m. This marked MTN as the first African company to invest in the metaverse.



Africarare was launched in South Africa in October 2021, as the first African Virtual Reality metaverse featuring digital land. This purchase will see MTN owning 144 plots of virtual land.



This year, African institutions headed to join the metaverse to have a presence in this space, one of which was Nedbank Group, one of the large financial services groups in South Africa, which became the first bank in Africa to enter the metaverse world.



According to Analysis Group, the metaverse could contribute $40 billion to Sub-Saharan Africa’s GDP by 2031 as it will give a remarkable opportunity for African brands to tell unique and interactive stories.

MTN to Hold First Metaverse Concert in Africa on November 30

The Voice, the US edition, had joined the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival, a virtual music festival held from November 10 to 13.



Launched in October 2021, with artists like Paris Hilton, Deadmau5, and 3LAU, the Voice will give the opportunity for its fans to feel like stars without being so nervous to audition in the real life.



It would be a voice-themed game in which fans will stand on the stage singing in the presence of a virtual audience in front of metaverse coaches, who will collect notes. The singers will perform to earn a chair turn and win a Voice collectible.

The forum will touch on several topics on its agenda, including Web 3.0, eco deep tech, education tech (EdTech), and eco-art with the participation of about 18 speakers.

Gucci announced its first event in the metaverse on The Sandbox, the digital real estate platform, which kicked off on October 27 till November 9.&nbsp;



Under the name of Gucci Vault Land, Gucci became the first luxury fashion brand to have its own space on The Sandbox, cementing its footprints in the metaverse.&nbsp;



The Gucci Vault Land is free for all users, where they can have fun, play, and earn blockchain-based tokens or rewards after completing specific activities. Users will receive one Gucci Vault Box for completing a task and receive five Gucci Vault Boxes as a bonus for finishing all the tasks.&nbsp;



The users will enter a green space called &#8220;Garden of Curiosities&#8221; which will be a home for Gucci NFTs. The fashion brand&#8217;s vintage pieces are being displayed, but they are not for sale. It has an educational game space about the brand&#8217;s products and heritage.&nbsp;



Gucci also designed non-playable characters (NPCs) in its metaverse who are ready to help players during completing their activities.



In February, Gucci purchased digital real estate on The Sandbox.



The fashion brand aims to showcase its legacy using Web 3.0 technology for users by introducing the Vault Land&#8217;s features in addition to attracting non-native users who are new to the metaverse experiences to simply access them.&nbsp;



It is not the first time Gucci to join the metaverse. In May 2021, it launched the Gucci Garden in Roblox, the same month during which the Italian brand turned the Aria fashion collection into an NFT video sold for $25,000 at Christie’s auction house, making it the first luxury brand to launch an NFT.&nbsp;



In February 2022, it launched 1,000 NFTs in collaboration with the toy brand Superplastic.&nbsp;



Commenting on metaverse and NFTs, CEO Marco Bizzarri&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.voguebusiness.com/technology/gucci-ceo-bizzarri-talks-metaverse-strategy-and-why-its-already-a-very-real-place-for-us" rel="noreferrer noopener">told Vogue Business</a>&nbsp;in March that &#8220;Gucci is not afraid to be a first mover in many areas and will continue to adopt this mindset and challenge the status quo.” Gucci’s strategy was not — and still isn’t — about playing it safe.&#8221;

Arab music stars Ragheb Alama and Saad Lamjarred will perform their concert together on Thursday but not in the real life. The concert is in the metaverse for the first time in the Arab world.



Under the umbrella of Concerts of the Future &#8211; A Step into the Metaverse, Alama, and Lamjarred will perform in front of a global audience as avatars.



Also, composer Michel Fadel will be at this futuristic concert, which is being presented by MetaBoundless Company.



In this event, MetaBoundless collaborated with the Algorand Foundation to create NFTs which will be digital tickets for the concertgoers. Each concertgoer will be rewarded by MetaBoundless with an NFT of his favorite pop star.

In this regard, Head of Web3 at the Algorand Foundation Shamir Ozery said the concert is a great opportunity for music fans to experience something new and immersive beyond the crypto world.

Ragheb Alama, Saad Lamjarred To Perform 1st Concert in Metaverse

UPYO, the largest NFT marketplace in the Middle East, announced that it would hold its second expo (UPYO Art Gallery) on October 13 on the metaverse.



This expo will be different from its previous one as there will be more places for showcasing the NFTs as a part of UPYO&#8217;s keenness to give the opportunity for the Arab artists to take part in the expo with their artworks in the virtual world.



The expo will include 55 booths to display the artworks of celebrities and innovators, 28 areas of which had been reserved, while 27 others are remaining.
