MTN Group, the African telecommunications operator, announced that it would hold Africa&#8217;s first metaverse concert in Ubuntuland on November 30. MTN Group was the first African company that purchased land in Africarare&#8217;s Ubuntuland in February.



The telecom operator&#8217;s concert, which will be held in partnership with The Mic: Africa, aims to raise awareness about the adoption of this virtual world.



Known as altMTN, the MTN Group’s presence in the African metaverse gives the opportunity to have a lead in digital platforms and promote African innovation, and will, over time feature live events, shopping, gaming, and learning, MTN’s Group Executive for Marketing Bernice Samuels said.



Regarding the concert, Samuels noted that his company would hold a competition for the consumers to allow them to win exclusive tickets, expressing his belief that music would attract more consumers to enjoy this immersive experience in the virtual world, a matter which will help in improving altMTN.



Earlier this year, MTN Group, the largest mobile network operator in Africa, announced its entry into the metaverse by purchasing 144 plots of virtual land in Ubuntuland with an overall area of 12x12m. This marked MTN as the first African company to invest in the metaverse.



Africarare was launched in South Africa in October 2021, as the first African Virtual Reality metaverse featuring digital land. This purchase will see MTN owning 144 plots of virtual land.



This year, African institutions headed to join the metaverse to have a presence in this space, one of which was Nedbank Group, one of the large financial services groups in South Africa, which became the first bank in Africa to enter the metaverse world.



According to Analysis Group, the metaverse could contribute $40 billion to Sub-Saharan Africa’s GDP by 2031 as it will give a remarkable opportunity for African brands to tell unique and interactive stories.

MTN to Hold First Metaverse Concert in Africa on November 30

The Voice, the US edition, had joined the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival, a virtual music festival held from November 10 to 13.



Launched in October 2021, with artists like Paris Hilton, Deadmau5, and 3LAU, the Voice will give the opportunity for its fans to feel like stars without being so nervous to audition in the real life.



It would be a voice-themed game in which fans will stand on the stage singing in the presence of a virtual audience in front of metaverse coaches, who will collect notes. The singers will perform to earn a chair turn and win a Voice collectible.



Attendees will have the chance to take selfies with current coaches; Camella Cabello, John Legend, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani, during the virtual Voice set.



In this regard, CEO of Virtual Brand Voice John W. Hochberg said he aims to create an atmosphere, where people can witness the virtual experience of the Voice and comfortably take part in it from their homes.



“The Voice has always pushed boundaries, starting with the first blind auditions, which allowed people to feel valued for who they are, not what they look like. Creating our first metaverse experience with Decentraland is the next logical iteration of that global fan journey,” said Hochberg noted.

The Voice Enters  Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival

Arab music stars Ragheb Alama and Saad Lamjarred will perform their concert together on Thursday but not in the real life. The concert is in the metaverse for the first time in the Arab world.



Under the umbrella of Concerts of the Future &#8211; A Step into the Metaverse, Alama, and Lamjarred will perform in front of a global audience as avatars.



Also, composer Michel Fadel will be at this futuristic concert, which is being presented by MetaBoundless Company.



In this event, MetaBoundless collaborated with the Algorand Foundation to create NFTs which will be digital tickets for the concertgoers. Each concertgoer will be rewarded by MetaBoundless with an NFT of his favorite pop star.



Both superstars expressed their excitement for joining the virtual world, saying they will perform their old and new hits in cooperation with Fadel in this futuristic show.



Alama said: &#8220;We partnered with them as they were the first to initiate such a futuristic project. Meanwhile, Lamjarred noted he looks forward to the fans watching him and seeing his unique digital avatar in the Concerts of the Future.



In this regard, Head of Web3 at the Algorand Foundation Shamir Ozery said the concert is a great opportunity for music fans to experience something new and immersive beyond the crypto world.



The show will be streamed live on www.metaboundless.io on Thursday at 11 pm (Gulf Standard Time). Concertgoers are not required to use any special device or VR goggles to watch.
